Introduction
Recombinant human FGF-8b protein is a recombinant growth factor designed for in vitro research, widely used in cell culture and organoid-related studies to support cell growth and functional analysis.
Background
FGF-8b is a splice variant of fibroblast growth factor 8 (FGF-8), a member of the FGF family of heparin-binding growth factors. Human FGF-8 generates multiple isoforms through alternative splicing, with FGF-8b exhibiting high receptor affinity and strong biological potency.
FGF-8b binds and activates fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), particularly FGFR1c and FGFR3c isoforms, initiating Ras/MAPK and PI3K signaling pathways. It plays a critical role during embryogenesis, especially in gastrulation, limb development, midbrain patterning, and epithelial-mesenchymal signaling interactions.
In vitro, recombinant FGF-8b is widely used in neuronal differentiation protocols, dopaminergic neuron generation, midbrain organoid formation, and neural regeneration studies.
